As many as 10,000 dogs, many of them stolen pets, are slaughtered for the festival.

I really don't understand the essence of this festival. What are they trying to promote? Animal cruelty? This is way beyond my understanding and I feel so much hate towards those people participating in this event. My heart goes to all those slaughtered dogs. :(
