AzBox Canada and AzBox US are proud to announce the long awaited release of firmware version 1.84 for the AzBox miniMe American Edition.

This new version focuses on improving the receiver's ease of use with the introduction of Easy and Advanced menu modes.  By default, Easy menu mode will be selected which hides the more advanced options but for those people who prefer to have all available options to thinker with, the menu mode can be switched by going to Settings -> Personalization and then selecting either "Easy" or "Advanced".  The receiver will then prompt for a reboot which must be made anytime Menu mode is switched as most menus are only loaded into memory upon boot.

The following enhancements are included with this new firmware version:

Bug fixes:
  • DiSEqC switch commands, motor movement and other frontend parameters are now sent before doing a blindscan.  This allows the user perform a blindscan on a different satellite than the one currently tuned to and corrects the issue SatelliteGuys members Pixl and catamount have experienced.
Issue reported by Pixl and catamount - Thank you!
  • Fixed mapping for the following remote control keys:
        * <-: Should immediately change to last tuned channel
        * ^: Should show history list instead of Exit key when viewing channel
        * LANG: Should show current audio channel and other audio options instead of green key
Issue reported by Bob2011 - Thank you!
  • Code optimizations in order to improve blindscan speed when detecting transponders.
    Issue reported by QA
  • Disable inactivity sleep timer by default.  On a fresh install, the inactivity sleep timer was previously set to 180 minutes.
    Issue reported by QA
  • Updated Youtube player in order to adapt to recent Youtube site changes.
    Issue reported by developers
  • Updated AV libraries to improve multimedia performance and other miscellaneous bug fixes

New features:
  • Added Easy menu mode in order to make receiver more simple to use for the less technically inclined.
  • Separated tuner configuration and channel scan options to their own menus on both Easy and Advanced menu modes in order to make the receiver easier to use.  Also, "Channels" on the main menu has been renamed "Installation".
  • A shortcut to scan for channels was added directly from the main menu using the Green button.  In order to allow for this, the TV mode and Radio mode options were combined to a single TV-Radio switch option in order to to toggle between TV and Radio mode.  This should make feedhunters happy! :)
  • Added dynamic countdown when moving dish which to our knowledge, is a  first for any FTA STB.  In past firmware versions, the "Moving dish..."  message displayed a static amount of seconds estimated for the dish to  move.  Now, the amount of seconds will countdown to 0 as the dish moves.  As always, the message is automatically removed once dish finishes moving.
  • The currently tuned channel is now highlighted in light grey on the channel list.
  • A function was added in order to delete all channels from the currently  tuned satellite.  This is useful for feedhunters or if you simply wish  to do a fresh scan on a satellite with lots of channels.  In order to  use, first tune to any scanned channel on the desired satellite, press  OK to display the channel list, press MENU and then select "Delete current  satellite channels".  After answering Yes to the confirmation dialog,  all channels on the currently tuned satellite except the actual tuned  channel will be deleted.  Please note that antenna settings are NOT  impacted by this function.
  • A new function was added to the green key when viewing a channel in order to display all channels on currently tuned transponder.
  • Satellite and transponder lists were freshly updated for 2014

Available for download now via the Internet update function on network connected receivers or download via our support page on azbox.ca or azbox.us to install using your USB flash drive.

Have fun and happy feedhunting!

Please note that the remote control key remapping fix is available in both Easy and Advanced menu modes.  However, as only the default assignments were changed, these won't change right away if you chose to preserve user settings during the upgrade.  There are two ways to fix this:

1. Resetting all user preferences to default by selecting Settings -> Manage settings -> Reset settings to default and then selecting Yes to confirm
Please note that this will NOT impact any antenna settings or scanned channels, only the preferences in the settings menu will be reset to default.  The first time you reboot after doing this, you will see the setup wizard again.  However, simply pressing the MENU key twice will skip it and you will be brought back to the last viewed channel.

2. If you made extensive personalization changes in the Settings menu and are using Advanced menu mode, you may prefer to fix the remote control key mappings by hand instead.  If so, please proceed as follows:

* <-: Should immediately change to last tuned channel
1. Go to: Settings -> Key setup -> Keybinding setup -> Quickzap -> Quick Zap -> setup new key
2. Press the <- key on the remote which is located immediately below the 7 key

* ^: Should show history list instead of Exit key when viewing channel
1. Select Back to go back to the Quickzap menu
2. Go to: Channel group history -> setup new key
3. Press the ^ key on the remote which is located immediately below the 9 key

* LANG: Should show current audio channel and other audio options instead of green key
1. Select Back -> Back to go back to the Keybinding setup menu
2. Change the Audio key start player preference from on to off.
