Hi there,

I have a 500 GB USB3.0 hard disk, I cannot for the life of me get the azbox to record to it .. My geosat pro works perfect with the same drive. It gives me the error that it is either busy or no mounted right.. I have tried formatting it about a dozen times on my PC in different formats.. NTFS, exfat etc.. I tried to format it via the ezbox.. wont allow me to connect to it to even format.

Any advice? i really want to take advantage of the PVR functionality.

About two years ago I recorded to a 16 gig flash drive for a few minutes test.  It was Fat32.

The box sees the HD, which was formatted in FAT32, but won't let you record or format it from the menu

I even tried EaseUS Partition to format the drive to EXT2, which the AZBox sees but it won't record. It needs a Media/Movie folder I think, but how the hell you get this on the hdd I don't know, because my windows PC won't now see the drive.

What error message are you guys receiving?  Keep in mind that by default, the receiver is configured to record to a directory called movies on your USB stick or HDD so please try creating a directory called movies in all lowercase letters on your drive using your computer and try again.

If it still does not work, please confirm that the recording directory is valid by going to System settings -> Recording ->Recording directory

Any connected drive should appear off the /media directory once connected.  Please note that to go up a level, press the left arrow key and to go inside a directory, press the right arrow key.  Once the directory you wish to use is highlighted, press the OK button to select it.

To play back recordings, press the SUBT key off your remote to list recordings and select the desired one.

Still does not work..

I have mode the movies directory.. even tried another one called media\sda1\movies.. nothing works.

I got a question, when you record to harddrive does it support playback on PC if you connect the external drive to USB, would say windows media player recognize the format and playback as well?

Yes, I can unplug the HDD from the Minime and connect to the PC via USB and it plays back the recordings just fine. The MiniMe uses the TS format to record and VLC player on the PC easily plays these.
