My upgrade was not successful. I was at firmware 1.86, so I followed the instruction to upgrade to 1.87 release. This seemed to go smoothly. The unit rebooted and came back up promptly, with indication that it completed successfully. I then proceeded to the upgrade to 2.03 kfl. The process seemed to go smoothly until flashing the firmware, then the TV set got a loud ROAR, and the progress bar looked like it erased the firmware, flashed the firmware and then did it again. I did not get a completed indication, as I did with the 1.87 upgrade. The screen went blank and the set indicated no signal. The unit did not reboot, so I followed the instruction to hold down the power button for 5 seconds. After holding it, the blue light flashed and I released the button. After waiting over 1 minute, no results were apparent on the TV screen. I have tried to reboot, with NO success.
What do I need to do now to get function?

Hello migold and welcome to the new AzBox Americas forum!

When you say "a load ROAR" do you mean a high pitched buzz sound?  If so, this occasionally happens when upgrading to the new kernel and is perfectly normal.

When trying to boot the unit, does the blue LED ring light turn orange for a few seconds after about 20 seconds during the booting process?
Also if you previously had the receiver connected to your network, try to ping the last known IP address to see if it responds.

The KFL kernel upgrade procedure in firmware 1.87 was tested extensively and unlike the previous 1.86 version, we were never able to make it fail even after testing over 30 times across several units.  Assuming that you were in fact on the 1.87 version (boot logo would have had new AzBox Americas logo instead of AzBox Canada) before updating to 2.03 KFL, something else must be at play here.

Buzz Sound is a good description!  It was quite startling...
Presently, when I hold the button down for 5 seconds, the blue ring will start to blink.  I let up on it, and after about 1-2 seconds, it blinks once.  Then after about 5 seconds more, it blinks again.  Afterwards, I do not notice any more blinks within 120 seconds.  It does not turn orange at any time during the 120 seconds.
I do not know the last IP address.  The IP for the unit that is saved in 'Dreamset' is now in use by another unit on my network.
The upgrade to 1.87 appeared to complete successfully.  There was a notice on the screen that the upgrade was successful.  I did not get a channel, since I did not get the system configuration restored.  I started to do that, but when I selected "Restore System Configuration", the screen showed a directory listing, and I was not sure what to do with that listing.  Since the unit was responding to commands and the video was OK, I proceeded to the 2.03 KFL release.
I loaded the software, both times over the internet to the MiniMe.
Now, I am stuck with no video out on the HDMI, and only the blinks described above.
What next?
Thanks!

I don't know if you solved the issue yet, but in case you didn't, when the unit it rebooting hold the #1 button. This will boot the unit into "safe mode" and should allow you to re-flash again. I had the same problem last week where I would reboot over and over and I would get a blank screen. I pressed #1 while rebooting and re-flashed the unit to safe mode and managed to recover it.

Good Luck.

Thanks,
I tried that, but I still get only a blank screen, so I never know if I am in “safe mode” or not….  Now, I have a stiff finger from holding down the #1 button on the remote….   J

Try holding down the front panel power button and when the blue ring light starts to flash, unplug the power cord from the back then let go of the power button.  Wait 60 seconds, disconnect any storage or USB flash drives from the unit then reconnect the power cord and press the power button once in order to turn on the unit again.  At this point, observe the blue ring light to see if the light turns orange for a few moments after about 20 seconds while the unit is trying to boot.

If it does turn orange then the new kernel was upgraded successfully so the receiver should be coming back on however if you don't get any video, please try to reconnect your HDMI at both ends to ensure it is seated properly.

If it never turns orange for a few seconds then turn blue again as per the above then the new kernel somehow did not upgrade properly which would be surprising as you upgraded the kernel from v1.87 unless that version never fully installed.  At this point, you will need to contact and return your receiver to your dealer for warranty repair.

I followed the instructions with the following results:
Try holding down the front panel power button and when the blue ring light starts to flash, unplug the power cord from the back then let go of the power button.    Done.

Wait 60 seconds, disconnect any storage or USB flash drives from the unit then reconnect the power cord and press the power button once in order to turn on the unit again.     Done.

At this point, observe the blue ring light to see if the light turns orange for a few moments after about 20 seconds while the unit is trying to boot.
Done, there was 1 blink at 5 seconds after pressing the power button, then the blue ring light remained constant for the next 120 seconds and continued blue.

If it does turn orange then the new kernel was upgraded successfully so the receiver should be coming back on however if you don't get any video, please try to reconnect your HDMI at both ends to ensure it is seated properly.

If it never turns orange for a few seconds then turn blue again as per the above then the new kernel somehow did not upgrade properly which would be surprising as you upgraded the kernel from v1.87.

It never turned Orange.

At this point, you will need to contact and return your receiver to your dealer for warranty repair.
I have emailed DrSat.ca for return authorization for warranty repair.
Thanks for your attention.

Not sure exactly what happened but I'm almost certain that your initial upgrade to 1.87 did not fully complete for some reason so you were actually still on 1.86.  We tested upgrading from 1.87 to 2.03 about 50 times over here and not once did the kernel upgrade fail.

Added the following note to the upgrade instructions in order to prevent other people from having the same issue:

Quote
IMPORTANT: When upgrading to v1.87 from version 1.86 or earlier firmware versions, please verify that it fully updated by checking the firmware version from Information -> Firmware info and make sure it shows 1.87 Release before attempting to upgrade to 2.03.

Thanks so much!  Glad that it is working.  Yes, I should have paused and checked the 1.87 upgrade before proceeding.  Now it can be upgraded to 2.04?

Once 2.03 is installed, the 2.04 UFL firmware update can be installed afterwards.  No need to worry about a kernel upgrade failing when installing a 2.x UFL firmware update at the 2.x firmware level as the kernel is not touched during the process.

However, your unit will be updated to the latest firmware when it gets re-flashed which will be 2.04 or possibly a later version.

miniMe has been received back from Dr. Sat, has firmware 2.05 UFL, and is working well.
Thanks so much for the assistance!   :)
