Updating my HTPC
« on: December 28, 2015, 02:43 pm »
I have a Dell Zino which has to be almost 10 years old now.  It was a great little form factor box when there wasn't much on the market at the time and has served me well.  I want to upgrade though to something with a little more power that I can run some modest emulated games off of.  More in line with a PS2/Xbox emulator along with some arcade MAMEs and older consoles as well.  Possibly some free MMORPGs through steam that would show up good on the screen, but that isn't a necessity.

Ideally I want it to be a Micro ATX form factor, but I could do a medium tower if it makes sense financially.  I have an i5 and a couple SSD drives lying around so I'll probably look into a barebone kit and build it myself.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

So kind of budget do you have in mind? I could put together a build for you that can do pretty much everything you described. If thats the case, what kind of parts do you already have? You mentioned an i5 and some SSDs. What brands, generations, models etc? Really what your looking at here is a Micro ATX or Mini ITX build with possibly an i5 or something similar. Depending on your budget, we could add a graphics card as well. Just respond and I'll help you work something out.
